The Ceremony

The Marriage Ceremony will be held at 2pm (or thereabouts) by the sea on the Shieldaig Lodge front lawn (weather permitting!) It will be a Humanist marriage ceremony carried out by Sylvia Cameron. 


In Scotland a Humanist celebration means we can have a secular (and legal) marriage outwith the context and constraints of any particular religious beliefs. The celebrant will work with us on an individual ceremony that truly expresses our lifelong love and commitment to each other.

What is Humanism?

Humanism is a diverse movement with ancient roots that reflects the views of millions of people around the world. Stated simply, Humanists believe that we can lead good and worthwhile lives guided by reason and compassion rather than religion or superstition, and that there are more things that unite humanity than divide it. Or, as we say in Scotland, “We’re a’ Jock Tamson’s bairns” - we’re all the same under the skin.
